Board approves rear deck on non-conforming lot

Zoning Board of Appeals · Meeting of February 24, 2026

LONGMEADOW — Zoning board approves rear deck on non-conforming lot and falconry hawk. The Longmeadow Zoning Board of Appeals voted unanimously to allow a 16-by-6-foot deck on an undersized property at 1142 Longmeadow Street despite non-conformities, finding it would not be substantially more detrimental to the neighborhood. Acting Chair Ellen Freyman and members Stephen Bennett, James Tourtelotte, and Travis Lynch, joined by associates Jerry Plumb, Peter Gallucci, and Danielle Aldrich, also unanimously granted a special permit to keep one red-tailed hawk at 8 Pleasantview Avenue, finding the applicant knowledgeable and determining the bird would remain safely contained and compliant with all state and federal falconry laws.

A separate petition for a porch addition at 69 Greenacre Avenue was continued to March 24.
