LONGMEADOW — The Conservation Commission approved tree removals at three properties with habitat-preservation conditions and ratified emergency certification for a 500-gallon diesel spill. Approximately 500 gallons of diesel overflowed during generator refueling into catch basins and an intermittent stream at 770 Converse Street at the Jewish Community Center; Conservation Agent Leah Wallner issued emergency certification after cleanup under MassDEP direction, which Chair John Bresnahan signed. The Commission approved removal of a maple at 125 Meadowbrook Road and two hemlocks at 16 Overbrook Lane with conditions requiring 10- to 15-foot habitat snags and two-to-one replacement ratio for hazardous trees at 94 and 100 West Road using native shrubs.
A public hearing on the Longmeadow Country Club irrigation-pond dredging project continues September 23.
