Longmeadow Sustainability Committee plans code promotion, hears Big Y update. The Energy and Sustainability Committee approved April minutes and discussed promotions for the Specialized Opt-in Code through a September Pride Day booth and water bill insert; Andrea Chasen and Elizabeth Bone will present to the Select Board on June 15. Zach Holt, Big Y Sustainability Manager, reported eight active solar projects, food waste diversion through USA Recycling, plans for parking lot electric vehicle chargers, and recycling bin additions.
The committee voted unanimously to sign the "Farewell to Foam" letter to Congress and received reports on school composting programs and anti-idling signage.
