Conservation Commission approves knotweed removal, develops memorial policy

LONGMEADOW — Conservation Commission unanimously approves Japanese knotweed removal project at Riverfront. Chair John Bresnahan and members backed Eagle Scout Pierce Devoe's plan to hand-pull knotweed from the area between the walking path and Yacht Club, work that aligns with a draft invasive management plan. The Commission also voted 6-1 to approve February 11 minutes with Member Richard Bontempo dissenting, and unanimously approved March 11 minutes.
Members will develop formal policies governing memorial structures on conservation land after a Friends of Fannie Stebbins plaque was placed without notification.
