Finance Committee tackles FY27 budget pressures on police, fire, and health insurance

Longmeadow Finance Committee addresses FY27 budget pressures, including an 11 percent health insurance increase. Police and fire salary increases approved in prior-year collective bargaining will carry forward into FY27, with health insurance costs expected to rise 11 percent. Finance Director Ian Coddington noted the Department of Public Works will see no budget increases with possible reductions ahead, while the Governor's moderate state aid increase will have minimal impact on Longmeadow.
Chair Erica Weida pushed for increased capital funding amid concerns about DPW staffing shortages. Committee members Adrian Moniz and Martin Boyle volunteered to represent the Finance Committee on the Future Building Use Task Force.
