Parks Commission seeks stricter oversight of sports group park plans

LONGMEADOW — Parks Commission directs director to require sports groups seek approval for park improvements. Chair Berke raised the matter during discussion of the Sponsored Sport Association Standards' Capital Improvement Projects language; Director Jarvis confirmed Standard #5 is not mandated and agreed to re-draft with explicit requirements for the February 9 meeting. The Commission also reviewed daycare enrollment trends, noting declining pre-K numbers but opening a new wobbler room as a feeder program, and acknowledged two Community Preservation Committee applications for pool amenities and a clay courts feasibility study.
