LONGMEADOW — The Longmeadow Recycling Commission moved to improve waste-separation practices through battery training and tonnage initiatives. The seven-member body unanimously approved prior meeting minutes and prioritized developing signage at the recycling center and swap shop focusing on battery, pizza box, and cup handling, plus scheduling formal battery-safety training with the Fire Chief. To boost recycling tonnage and cut processing fees, members proposed placing recycling containers alongside trash bins at athletic fields and increasing website updates.
Select Board representative Shelly Maynard DeWolf offered to coordinate container placement with the Town Manager and DPW.
