Longmeadow Select Board approves 30 warrant articles for May 12 town meeting. The board voted unanimously to advance articles covering the fiscal 2027 budget, capital improvements, and bylaw amendments. Major approvals included 450,000 dollars in free cash for Department of Public Works snow and ice operations, 12,000 dollars for the town's 250th anniversary celebrations, and 367,000 dollars for stormwater infrastructure studies.
The board also approved an 8.6 million dollar borrowing authorization for a municipal fiber project that has generated resident concerns about debt service and taxes. During resident comment, board member Vineeth Hemavathi noted the town was ineligible for state and federal grant funding due to existing Comcast service and median household income.
