LONGMEADOW — Future Building Use Task Force advances municipal space reuse evaluation. Chair Paul Dunkerley led the meeting, during which the task force unanimously approved its June 10 minutes and formally adopted the Public Input Plan to guide property evaluations. The task force also approved adoption of a tracking spreadsheet and decided to develop FAQ content and presentation materials for community forums.
Andrew Lam of Historic Preservation Partners noted Longmeadow owns 270,000 square feet of municipal space compared to 70,000 in East Longmeadow, a substantial surplus. DPW Director Sean Van Deusen and Facilities Director Nick Georgantas warned that public construction costs typically run double or triple private development costs.
