Longmeadow Town Meeting approves the fiscal 2027 school budget as the new middle school reaches 60 percent design. The Longmeadow School Committee heard this week that the middle school building committee's 60 percent design submission has been accepted by the Massachusetts School Building Authority, with site enabling work from contractor Fontaine set to begin in June ahead of a 2028 opening. Superintendent Dr.
O'Shea walked the committee through his own self-evaluation ahead of its annual review, with forms due to staff by May 20 and the evaluation subcommittee meeting May 21. He also flagged that federal funding for the CLOSE community coalition's substance-prevention work expires in about a year and a half. The committee approved its April 28 minutes as amended, 4-0, and approved, 5-0, a summer gym-use request from a youth basketball program for 40 participants.
