Tree Committee advances spring planting, schedules removal hearings

Tree Committee · Meeting of January 20, 2026

LONGMEADOW — Tree Committee plans 100-tree spring planting and schedules removal hearings. Tree Warden Leah Grigorov reported capital project funding will support 100 new trees this spring, with $32,000 from the operating budget allocated for 40 trees along Maple Road. The Committee scheduled a January 29 on-site hearing for removal of four public shade trees at the Raspberry Brook culvert under Longmeadow Street due to construction impacts, with replacement trees proposed.

A second hearing is forthcoming for trees affected by town improvement projects on Longmeadow Street, Forest Glen, and Western Drive.
