Tree Committee approves Arbor Day seedlings, cooling corridors grant

Tree Committee · Meeting of March 17, 2026

Longmeadow Tree Committee approves Arbor Day seedlings and cooling corridors grant support. Chair Kathryn Kucab presided over the remote meeting with members Steven Steiner, William Seefeld, and Lou Kornet, with Patrick Carnahan and staff Bari Jarvis absent. The Committee approved $321 for three bundles of redbud seedlings accompanying Arbor Day visits at five schools in late April.

Tree Warden Leah Wallner reported that a tree removal hearing for two oaks at 32 Longmeadow Street was denied on March 12 after public objection, with the Town appealing to the Select Board for its March 23 hearing. The Committee also signed a letter supporting a state grant application for 65 trees along Bliss Road, Laurel Street, and Williams Street.
