Tree Warden approves removal of two public shade trees

Public Shade Tree Hearings · Meeting of July 2, 2026

Longmeadow Tree Warden approves removal of two public shade trees. Tree Warden Leah Wallner approved removal of a 22-inch Norway maple at 26 Whitmun Road and a 23-inch red maple at 160 Lynwood Avenue following a July 2 hearing under Massachusetts Public Shade Tree Law. No public objections were received.

The Norway maple removal requires the resident to plant a replacement tree at a 1-to-1 ratio. The red maple, found to be declining with trunk cavities and an unfavorable lean over the roadway, was approved for removal at the resident's request.
