Select Board · Meeting of March 23, 2026
Longmeadow's Select Board voted 5-0 to raise sewer and stormwater rates and set a new water fixed-rate structure for fiscal 2027. Town Manager Lyn Simmons presented a $93.4 million town budget, up 5.66 percent, that holds capital spending flat at $1.57 million and skips a retiree-benefits contribution for the first time in years, citing an 11.2 percent jump in health insurance costs. Finance Director Ian Coddington said the municipal fiber project's financing, now restructured to a 20-year term, could cost taxpayers between $3.3 million and $8.7 million depending on subscriber take rates.
Member Vineeth Hemavathi called Eversource's handling of utility pole applications "incredibly frustrating." The board also voted 5-0 to overturn a March 12 hearing and approve removal of two Pin Oak trees at 32 Longmeadow Street for a state road project.
