Select Board · Meeting of January 5, 2026
Longmeadow's fiber-optic buildout cost estimate climbed to between $27.2 million and $30 million, up from an earlier $25 million projection, Fiberspring told the Select Board. The town would need a 50 percent subscriber take rate at about $90 a month to hit its targets, and would need to cover a cash-flow deficit ranging from $4.3 million over 14 years at a 40 percent take rate to $1.5 million over seven years at 60 percent. Officials flagged a political action committee spending roughly $10,000 a month on Facebook ads against the project, citing failed fiber votes in Hampden and Southwick as warnings.
Separately, the board set May 12, 2026, for Annual Town Meeting and June 2, 2026, for the Annual Town Election, and heard that a Center School roof project is estimated at $7,222,616, with the town's local share projected near $4.2 million.
