Select Board · Meeting of March 9, 2026

Longmeadow Select Board set new recycling cart fees and adopted a green purchasing policy while reviewing a $46.1 million school budget and water rate options. Superintendent Marty O'Shea presented the fiscal 2027 Longmeadow Public Schools budget, up 2.47 percent, or $1,111,201, over this year's $44.96 million, calling it "a fiscally responsible budget." Finance Director Ian Coddington pitched three water and sewer rate scenarios, correcting an earlier 6 percent Springfield assessment estimate to the actual 18 percent increase. The board leaned toward fully funding DPW infrastructure requests, pushing the burden toward fixed rates, with a final vote expected March 23.

In unanimous 5-0 votes, the board set a $75 replacement-cart fee, adopted its environmentally preferable purchasing policy, appointed Luis Capellan to the regional Joint Transportation Committee and referred two zoning bylaw amendments to the Planning Board.
